Dr Reena Kainamu

Project lead (Training)

I’m of Ngā Puhi, Ngāti Kahu and Pākehā whakapapa. I am a psychiatric nurse, FNZCMHN and an addictions practitioner with a PhD in Māori Health.

In recent years I practised within NGOs in urban and regional settings. Prior to working with Te Pou o te Whakaaro Nui and Blueprint for Learning I worked in the corrections field in the intersection between whanau-that-offend and mental health and addictions.

I’m in awe of people’s unconquerable mauri in beginning healing journeys and the commitment of practitioners to holding these spaces. Mauri mahi, mauri ora.

Enlightenment is when a wave realises it is the ocean.

Maintain your wellbeing

Even good change can cause stress and anxiety. It's okay if you're feeling mixed emotions about New Zealand's move to Level 1. Blueprint for Learning's new webinar Stress, Resilience and Wellbeing can help you with strategies to manage these feelings and your overall wellbeing.
