Tony GomezFacilitator - MH101® and Addiction 101Anthony (Tony) Gomez is a critical care and trauma nurse by profession and is now in the mental health and addictions field. A Certified Global Nurse Consultant under the International Council of Nurses and CGFNS International, he is from the Philippines where he finished his bachelor’s and Master of Science degrees in Nursing, emigrated to Australia, worked in six different countries, and now lives in Aotearoa, New Zealand. He completed his postgraduate degree in mental health at AUT, certificate degree in criminal justice at the University of Canterbury, a certificate in adult and tertiary teaching, a certificate in assessment practice and diploma in psychology from Open Polytechnic of NZ, a degree in forensic science in Australia (Sydney) and a DAPAANZ registered practitioner. Tony is doing his doctoral degree in health at Victoria University with mental health as the core focus of his research and finished his Tikanga ā-Rongoā training and studies under Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. Tony is the Primary Mental Health and Addictions Leader of Mahitahi Hauora, providing primary health care to the people of Te Tai Tokerau - Northland and Far North District. He is also part of Te Tumu Waiora, a government and Ministry of Health national initiative delivering an innovative new model of care for general practice, giving people easy, equitable and prompt access to local mental health and well-being support. As a Behavioural Health Consultant/Health Improvement Practitioner, Tony is in general practice to see all patients’ presentations, including physical health and all ages. |
