Sara McCook-Weir

Sara McCook-Weir
Training Manager, Case Consulting

Sara McCook Weir has a background in theatre and film. She cut her teeth as an actress on the London fringe circuit, before discovering that much of her performances were played from inside psychiatric institutions! Sara has been at CASE Consulting for six years, and lead facilitator in training and education since 2003. She has developed and delivered workshops to service users, mental health support workers, non-government organisations, secondary and tertiary students and government agencies, as well as recovery competency training to Capital Coast Health DHB staff for the third year in a row. In 2007, Sara developed and delivered the What Works toolkit for seventy-five Work and Income trainers to deliver throughout their organisation. Recovery-focused, and based on CASE’s underlying philosophy of the power of contact, Sara believes the success of many of the workshops lies in catering to the variety of learning styles within people. “We tailor content to the organisation's need, then blend it with a mix of humour, light, shade, depth and feeling. It is our job to ensure the participants are comfortable and receptive in that mix. Reflection naturally occurs through the activities and discussion and that’s the way we find most people learn well.”
