Scholarships
Purpose
To assist leaders and managers from within the mental health and addictions sector to undertake the Blueprint ADVANCED Executive Leadership & Management Programme (AELMP).
Funding
Two scholarships are currently available for the 2010 AELMP stream.
The first scholarship is generously provided by the Mental Health Commission and is available for a Service User Leader. The value of the scholarship is $5000 which will cover the AELMP fees and provide a contribution towards travel and accommodation expenses.
The second scholarship is kindly funded by Waikato DHB and is available for one ELMP graduate currently working for Waikato DHB. The scholarship is for fees only, which is to the value of $3000.
Selection Criteria
A panel convened by Blueprint for Learning will select the successful applicant for the MHC scholarship. The Waikato DHB scholarship winner will be chosen jointly by Katherine Fell from Waikato DHB and a Blueprint for Learning panel.
All applicants must meet the following selection criteria for both scholarships:
- They are New Zealand residents.
- They are working with a contracted mental health or addictions provider for at least 20 hours per week.
- They are supported by their manager (employer) and will be released as required to complete the programme.
- The applicant provides a proposal with clear rationale for how this programme will enhance their ability to contribute to the mental health or addictions sector within New Zealand.
- The applicant provides an explanation of why financial support from their organisation is limited, or not possible.
- The application is received by the closing date.
Applicants for the Mental Health Commission scholarship must be a service user leader. Applicants for the Waikato DHB scholarship must be working for Waikato DHB.
Special consideration will be given to applicants where the employer is not able to provide partial or full financial support, and applicants who will have higher travel and accommodation expense.
Value of the Scholarship (MHC)
- The selection panel has set the value of the MHC scholarship at $5000.
- The scholarship will cover the cost of fees and contribute towards travel and accommodation for the Advanced Executive Leadership and Management Programme.
- The scholarship will not cover the costs of study leave release from work.
- Blueprint for Learning will manage the execution of the scholarship.
- The scholarship is only valid for the Blueprint Advanced Executive Leadership and Management Programme.
Value of the Scholarship (Waikato DHB)

Declaration of other Funding
Please provide details (including the dollar amount) of any other government or employment related funding you expect to receive, or have applied for.
Notification of receipt of application and of final decision
All applicants will receive an acknowledgement letter on receipt of their application. All applicants will be notified of the panel's final decision to grant or decline their application. Reasons for declined applications will not be given on an individual basis and there will be no appeal mechanism for declined applications.
Scholarship Application
Completed scholarship applications, proposals and all supporting documentation must be received no later than: 5pm, Wednesday 20th January 2010.

• Recent resume.
• Letter of support from employer.
