Materoa Mar is of Nga Puhi, Ngati Whatua and Ngati Porou descent.
Materoa has held key leadership and management roles during her career in health sector. In recent times these roles include; Clinical Leader of Capital Coast District Health Board, Chair of the Mental Health Foundation, Deputy Chair of Te Rau Matatini, board member for the Werry Centre and member of the Youth Suicide External Reference Group to the Ministry of Youth Development.
Materoa has a passion for the improvement of quality services to Tangata Whaiora and Whanau through inclusive, integrated care and treatment. Materoa's philosophy on leadership is based on the importance of mobilising people to effect positive changes for the benefit of tangata whaiora and whanau.
