Helen Wood Biography
Helen Wood, Manager, District Mental Health Services, Waitemata District Health Board
Helen started her career in Mental Health as an Occupational Therapist at Tokanui Hospital in 1981.
She has accomplished a vast portion of her management career overseas, with a year as a clinician in South Africa followed by 20 years working in London encompassing professional and senior clinical leadership roles in OT and community mental health teams, service development manager roles at the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health, and the Mental Health Foundation. She was successful in achieving an MA (Distinction) in Mental Health at Canterbury University.
Helen's vision is to achieve the best possible outcomes for mental health service consumers by realising the full potential of staff, organisations and the local systems people work within.
